Provenance & Focus

The Vault and The Print Room were born from a shared obsession with history, preservation, and the mastery of fine craftsmanship. Founded in 2025 by artist and master fabricator Tracy Ellis alongside her partner Scott, a military intelligence veteran and historian, our studio bridges the worlds of investment-grade historical preservation and fine art.

Operating from coast to coast, Tracy and Scott drive our global acquisition and meticulous restoration efforts from the East, while Tracy’s son, Tyler Ellis, directs our West Coast operations out of Los Angeles. Together, we operate not just as dealers but as researchers, caretakers, and creators.

Our Team

Tracy

Co-Founder, Master Artisan & Conservator Tracy is an artist, builder, and professional refurbisher whose mastery over wood, paint, and structure was forged out of necessity. While completely renovating, flipping, and structurally expanding her estate in Vermont, she refined a profound technical command over traditional woodwork and fine finishing. Today, she applies that rigorous structural expertise to the preservation of high-value antiquities—ensuring that every mechanical artifact or rare sculptural piece is restored to an uncompromising standard of operational excellence.

Scott

Co-Founder & Director of Historical Research. With a background in military intelligence, Scott approaches provenance with unparalleled investigative precision. A lifelong scholar of history, he conducts exhaustive global research on every acquisition. His ability to unearth the rare documentation, manufacturing origins, and structural stories behind our pieces ensures that every item entering The Vault is vetted to the highest standards of historical significance.

Studio: Preservation & Creation

Our work is split into two distinct practices: preserving the past and capturing the present.

  • The Vetting & Restoration: We search the globe for pieces spanning across diverse eras. Once acquired, an item undergoes months of exhaustive historical research by Scott to establish its timeline, followed by intensive bench restoration by Tracy and Tyler to return it to pristine structural or mechanical life.

  • The Original Works: Beyond preservation, our studio remains actively creative. Tracy produces striking, original acrylic paintings, while Tyler captures the quiet, cinematic moments of the landscape utilizing analog film photography—forming the uncompromised foundation of our Fine Art Print collections.

Tyler

West Coast Acquisitions & Visual Artist Operating out of California, Tyler manages our West Coast curation and brings a lifelong passion for books, design, and tangible craftsmanship. A multi-disciplinary artisan skilled in stonework and woodwork, Tyler handles the dedicated restoration of our vintage mechanical pieces, specialized lighters, and analog camera equipment.
